We are pleased to announce that American Routes will be recording seven performances during the 2014 Baton Rouge Blues Festival for an upcoming program this fall. Having host Nick Spitzer—one of the original organizers of the festival—spotlight this year's lineup gives the Baton Rouge Blues Festival national exposure and credibility as a destination music event.
"American Routes is the premiere radio program focusing on American music and to have them covering the Baton Rouge Blues Festival is a huge honor, as well as being a real opportunity for us to get exposure on a national level," says Clarke Gernon, Backstage at the Blues Fest chair and Baton Rouge Blues Foundation board member.
American Routes is produced in New Orleans with Tulane University and distributed by PRX -- Public Radio Exchange. Airing locally on WRKF (89.3 FM) Saturday nights from 7-9 p.m., the program—devoted to blues and jazz, roots rock and soul, Cajun and country and beyond—is heard nationally each week on 300 stations and up to a million listeners. Recording at the Baton Rouge Blues Festival for public radio is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.
